Barcarès marina development to be reconsidered

The Balearic Government’s environment minister promised a meeting of residents from Barcarès that the projected re-development of the small port would be reconsidered. He stressed, however, that nothing was imminent and that the plans for the port were in the public domain as part of a process of the government considering which projects should assume greatest priority.

Storms cause havoc in the north

The first heavy storms of late summer struck the north of the island during yesterday afternoon, with rainfalls up to 43 litres per square metre. Puerto Alcúdia and Playa de Muro were badly affected, while lightning set off a fire on the Formentor promontory.

Alcúdia to lose the railway?

The Balearic Government looks set to divert funds for the extension of the railway to Alcúdia to other rail works on the island, notably the “boulevard” that is part of the solution to issues surrounding the extension of the Manacor railway to Artà. A definitive statement has yet to be made, but could it now be that Alcúdia does not get its train?
